Fortnite 2FA Guide – What Is It & How To Enable It

What is 2FA in Fortnite?

Chances are that you’ve heard of the term 2FA in Fortnite. It stands for two-factor authentication and is a commonly used feature used on pretty much every service that requires you to have an account. Two-factor authentication is as the word itself suggests, an extra layer of security. Usually, this extra layer of security is a code sent to your mobile each time you wish to log in. However, the use of authentication apps have been steadily growing throughout the years and is also what Fortnite uses. Apps like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator allows you to store authenticator codes on your mobile. This not only brings the element of 2FA but also protects against sim card swaps, which text message 2FA is vulnerable against. When using 2FA in Fortnite, you simply open the app in which you’ve saved your code and type the displayed sequence of numbers into your game. You can also choose to use email-authentication instead, which sends the code to your email. This option is less safe than using an app, as your email can get hacked. To break into your account that has 2FA through an app, the hacker would need your physical phone.
