Ubisoft announced that they are delaying Skull and Bones for the fifth time in its development.
Skull and Bones was first revealed way back at E3 in 2017. You will have to wait until March 9, 2023, to play this pirate fantasy game, which is set in the beautiful seas of the 17th-century Indian Ocean.
Ubisoft claims that game development has finished but needs extra time to further polish and balance the experience.
Ubisoft is using the feedback it received from technical tests and its Insider Program to fix whatever issues were found.
Normally I would applaud a publisher or developer who takes the extra time to polish their game. I have a hard time justifying it here. The game has been pushed back so many times and has been in development for 5 years.
My expectations for this game have dropped even further with this announcement. To add insult to injury, there are rumors that Ubisoft will price this game at $70.
Skull and Bones will be available on the Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5, Amazon Luna, and Windows PC through the Epic Games store and the Ubisoft store. Players who subscribe to Ubisoft+ on PC or Amazon Luna will be able to access the game on day one.
