You’ll need to complete the in-game DLC Lookout Ridge event to obtain the Emblem of Rivals and access to Edelgard, Claude, and Dimitri. This event becomes available at Somniel at any point after Chapter 6 has been completed.

How To Complete The Lookout Ridge Event in Fire Emblem Engage

To begin the Lookout Ridge event, you’ll need to have returned to Somniel after completing Chapter 6. Once this has occurred, head to the cliff area located in Southern Somniel, known as Lookout Ridge.

Fire Emblem Engage Lookout Ridge

Once you arrive at Lookout Ridge, a cutscene should automatically trigger, where Vander will reveal a mysterious bracelet discovered in Southern Firene. This bracelet is The Bracelet of Three Houses, which holds the Emblem of Rivals.

Upon receiving the bracelet, Edelgard, Claude, and Dimitri will appear and introduce themselves, as well as continue playful and sarcastic bickering, more than living up to the name of their Emblem.

You are now able to use Edelgard, Claude, and Dimitri in your playthrough, with each of these characters coming paired with unique stats and sync skills.

Some players have reportedly found the DLC buggy, with the Lookout Ridge event failing to trigger correctly.

If the cutscene does not trigger upon your arrival to Lookout Ridge, and you don’t have a prompt stating “Something has been found at Lookout Ridge” appear on your screen after completing Chapter 6, then you can return to your room in Somniel and sleep. As long as you have purchased the DLC expansion, the trigger for the event should automatically occur after sleeping and exiting your room.

If this still does not work, you may try advancing an entire Chapter ahead in the story and returning to try and trigger the event. You should also double-check that the DLC content was fully downloaded from the Nintendo eShop and re-download the file if needed.

How The Emblem of Rivals Works in Fire Emblem Engage

While the Emblem of Rivals contains three different characters, the primary character is Edelgard, with all synchro skills and engage skills listed under ‘Emblem Edelgard.’

Despite Edelgard being the primary support character from the Emblem of Rivals, Claude and Dimitri are also fully functional characters with unique abilities. However, only one character may be present on the battlefield at a time, so while the Emblem of Rivals is equipped, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude will switch out and rotate their position as active support at random during the beginning of each turn.

They can also unleash a powerful Engage attack called Houses Unite. This strong technique uses Bow, Axe, and Lance damage in an attacking combo with all three Emblem of Rivals occupants, so it’s incredibly versatile and a great move to weave into your strategy.

On top of this, an even more powerful version of this Engage attack called Houses Unite + can be performed. This variation serves all Houses Unite’s effects and enables you to take an extra action once the attack has been completed.

To trigger Houses Unite +, Byleth’s Emblem must be adjacent to Edelgard’s Emblem on the combat board. Only Edelgard’s Emblem must be Engaged to initiate the attack.

This means you can strategize further by triggering Byleth’s Emblem to Engage at a different moment of combat rather than burning them both simultaneously and having to wait for the cooldowns to charge again.

That’s everything you need to know about how to unlock Edelgard in Fire Emblem Engage.
