How to Give Medals in HOI4

To even gain the ability to give a division Medals, they will first need to do a feat worthy of an accolade. This means that the division itself will first need to do something impressive before receiving a Medal from you.

Some of the things that a division can do to gain the ability to be granted a citation are:

  • Conquering a big city.
  • Winning despite sustaining a lot of casualties.
  • Successfully completing operations.

Once a division completes one of these achievements, a little medal icon with a plus sign will appear next to the icon of the division when you select the army they’re part of.

Press the medal to open the History of the division, where you will see what operations they’ve participated in and the battles they were a part of.

A button with a hand putting on a medal will appear next to the greater feats, which will allow you to Grant a Citation.

Pressing this button will make a few Medals appear which all give various different bonuses. The Medals are based on your country and the political party that rules it.

Select one that fits your needs and use 30 Political Power to give them a permanent bonus. You can give as many Medals as achievements, so a division can stack up as many buffs as you can give them.
