Rust – How to See at Night

You are currently viewing Rust – How to See at Night

Most survival games like to make nighttime the most dangerous and annoying time of the day. Even if you would love to walk around the island during the night in Rust, you will never be able to see anything.

Of course, there are many ways that you can create light for yourself during nighttime, but you will usually just attract other players to kill you.

What would be the best way to see at night in Rust? Probably to somehow raise the brightness to actually see what is going on.

Unfortunately, the only way players can see better at night in Rust is with the help of lighting tools. There is no way to increase the brightness of the game anymore, as it is considered cheating.

Can You Increase Brightness in Rust Through Settings or Nvidia Filters?

In the past, Rust players found out that they could use the Nvidia Geforce Experience Game Filters to increase the brightness of the game and set everything to make nights more visible.

However, at some point, Facepunch Studios made nights even darker and removed the possibility to use the Nvidia filters.

Now, if a player somehow manages to use the filters, they risk getting banned for a few days since it is considered cheating.

It seems that the only way to increase brightness while playing Rust is to do it from the PC monitor. Otherwise, you will risk getting banned. Still, even with the brightness turned all the way up, nights will still be incredibly dark in the game.

How to See at Night in Rust – All Lighting Tools

The only way to see at night in this game is with the help of lighting tools such as torches. However, nobody wants to use a torch or flashlight during the night since it will attract the attention of the players around them.

Here are the few tools you can use to make light at night in Rust:

  • Flare
  • Flashlight
  • Lantern
  • Night Vision Goggles
  • Torch

Out of these bunch, the best choices if you want to survive random player encounters are the flare and Night Vision Goggles. However, both are relatively hard to procure.

How to Get Night Vision Goggles in Rust

The best way to see at night in Rust is with the help of Night Vision Goggles. Though this piece of equipment can be very hard to craft (10 HQM and 2 Tech Trash), it is relatively cheap from the Black Market.

If you didn’t know, in the Bandit Camp there is a shop named the “Black Market” which sells Night Vision Goggles for 250 scrap.

One risk with using the Night Vision Goggles is that other players will see your glowing green eyes. However, you should be able to see them a long time before they see you.

Also, the NVGs only have 15 minutes’ worth of batteries. Once that time is up, they will be useless unless recharged. You can recharge NVGs at any Workbench Level 2.

Another disadvantage of the NVGs is the fact that it stops you from wearing a helmet. This will risk the chance of insta kills with headshots. All you can do is put on a bandana as well to keep your head safer.

That’s everything you need to know about how to see at night in Rust!
