Rust is a very hardcore survival game where all the players will try to kill you every chance they get and will probably destroy your base while you’re offline.

However, the game is still loved by many, even though it can be very cruel, as that is what actually makes it so fun. As you spend time trying to survive and get a base that can withstand attacks from the clans around, you could start learning some simple mechanics that will make your life easier.

One of these mechanics that will be incredibly useful when you use a Furnace is the ability to split stacks. You can use this to either give some friends your resources or to efficiently smelt 3 stacks at the Furnace. Whatever your reason, this is an extremely important mechanic that all Rust players should know.

To split item stacks in Rust, all you need to do is hover your mouse over the stack, press and hold the middle mouse button to drag half of the stack, and drop it on a free slot in the inventory.
