To actually help your trees grow during the Winter, you will need to plant the seed and then apply the Tree Fertilizer over it.

If it has already advanced to a different growth stage, you won’t be able to use the fertilizer on it.

This means that if you plant a tree at the end of Fall and don’t use Tree Fertilizer on it, it will stop growing once you get to Winter.
