What to Bring to Luau Festival Event in Stardew Valley

All players will know about the Luau Festival in Stardew Valley is that it is an event where all villagers have to place an item inside a potluck and feed everyone with the result.

You will also learn that the Governor will be visiting Pelican Town during this event and that it would be wise to impress him.

You are never told what kind of item would work in the potluck. Well, what you will have to bring to the Luau Festival event in Stardew Valley is edible, non-cooked food.

Depending on the quality of the item that you place inside the potluck soup, you can either garner a positive or negative reaction from the Governor and Lewis.

At the end of the event, you will gain friendship points will all of the villagers of Pelican Town based on what you placed inside the potluck.

The main factors that will influence how “good” the item you give are the quality of the item, the selling price, and the health boost it gives.

Possible Governor Reactions

Based on what you bring to the Luau Festival in Stardew Valley, the Governor can have 7 different reactions:

  • Best (+120 Friendship Points)
  • Pleasant (+60 Friendship Points)
  • Average (+0 Friendship Points)
  • Missing Something (+0 Friendship Points)
  • Outrageous (+0 Friendship Points)
  • Disgusting (-50 Friendship Points)
  • Vile (-100 Friendship Points)

We have ordered the reactions the Governor can have based on the number of friendship points you can get or lose from the event with the villagers.

It will be relatively hard to get the Vile and Disgusting reactions, as there aren’t many items that can garner those reactions.

Most items will get the Pleasant reaction, as normal quality items will usually only get this result. Items such as Apples, Bananas, Pale Ale, and so on at normal quality will get this reaction.

If you don’t give any item or just give something really plain, you will either get the Missing Something reactions, where the Governor specifies someone didn’t participate in the event or the Average reaction, where the soup will be deemed average.

The only reactions that most players will want to get are the Outrageous one and the Best one. To get the Outrageous reaction, you will need to place Lewis’ Lucky Purple Shorts inside the potluck soup.

Since this is an incredible reaction, we won’t spoil what the Governor says. However, you would be happy to know that nobody will be upset with you for placing the Mayor’s Lucky Shorts inside the soup.
