Exit the Gungeon

Exit the Gungeon blends frantic bullet hell gameplay with challenging rogue-lite progression.

And the result?

A thrilling and dazzling arcade adventure sure to get your heart pounding.

This sequel to Enter the Gungeon doubles down on the original’s kaleidoscopic chaos.

Players tackle wave after wave of increasingly difficult foes as they climb through the Gungeon.

Along the way, you’ll find plenty of wild, wacky, and devastating weapons to equip.

However, there’s a catch: you randomly switch between guns several times a minute!

One second you’re charging a giant cannon-like blunderbuss, and the next, you’re holding a massive frog that blows bubbles.

This mechanic adds a gripping level of pandemonium that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.

That’s not all that’s random either, as Exit the Guneon’s levels are all procedurally-generated. Meaning that every playthrough is fresh and unique.

As a result, the game packs hours upon hours of replay value.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards

Shovel Knight: King of Cards is a top-notch platformer and an engaging card game all at once.

This prequel is the fourth campaign in the Shovel Knight universe.

As such, veterans of the series get the chance to revisit many of their favorite characters.

This time around, you play as the delusional but hilarious King Knight.

He’s not actually royalty – but hopes to change that by winning a card game tournament that promises to crown its champion as the king.

This card game within the game, called Joustus, is surprisingly fleshed-out and captivating.

It provides a refreshing respite from the fast-paced challenge of the platforming levels.

Winning matches bestows special rewards that you use to beef up King Knight.

However, playing Joustus is optional beyond the prologue.

So those who prefer the classic Shovel Knight gameplay can decide to skip the minigame sections entirely.

This adventure also tells an engaging story that delivers plenty of laughs. You’re bound to love it whether you’re new to the franchise or a long-time fan.

Ittle Dew

Ittle Dew is the perfect adventure for fans of the Legend of Zelda series.

This game is bursting at the seams with charm, from the hilarious enemies to the adorable art style.

You play as Ittle, a young girl who gets stranded on a mysterious island.

Ittle eventually meets a merchant who can give her a raft to escape. But only if she first uncovers a secret relic hidden in the island’s castle.

Thankfully, you’re not alone. By your side is Tippsie, a magical talking fox.

Tippsie serves as your guide, offering advice along with a healthy helping of sarcasm.

His comedic chemistry with Ittle is bound to have you laughing.

The game features top-down action mixed with engaging puzzles.

Ittle starts with only a wooden stick to defend herself.

But as you progress, you’ll discover more items for both combat and puzzles. Such as the Ice Wand, which freezes enemies and helps you reach new places.

Altogether, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a title as delightful as Ittle Dew.

DOOM 3

Ready for a high-octane shooter that’ll make you feel like a super-soldier?

Then DOOM 3 is the game for you.

The third entry into the DOOM series received critical acclaim for its lightning-fast pace and tight gunplay.

Without spoiling too much, players must navigate a bleak, demon-infested Mars.

And the enemies you encounter are equal parts imaginative and downright terrifying.

But thankfully, you’re well-equipped to take them on.

Weapons range from missile-firing machine guns to rip-roaring chainsaws.

Not to mention players can stagger enemies for devastating melee finishers.

Plus, there are numerous upgrades to apply to your armaments. That way, you can customize your loadout to fit your fighting style.

DOOM 3’s arena-like levels are also full of power-ups.

They do everything from granting invincibility to boosting punching power, thus rewarding players for staying mobile and aggressive.

When you add one of the best video game soundtracks in recent years, DOOM 3 is a must-play.

Part Time UFO is a physics-based puzzle game that is sure to intrigue you.

In it, you play as a helpful UFO who takes on odd jobs for people across the world.

One stage will have you stacking cheerleaders into a pyramid, while in another, you’re tasked with rebuilding works of art in a museum.

While the premise is simple, the levels are delightfully complex.

Each stage has numerous side objectives for you to tackle. And the more you accomplish, the more money you earn.

You can then spend that money on adorable costumes for your little UFO.

One of my personal favorites is a little puppy that rides along on top of you. But the painter’s outfit is undeniably charming too.

You can also play cooperatively, getting a friend in on the wholesome fun.

If Part Time UFO’s entertaining gameplay doesn’t win you over, the ultra-cute aesthetics definitely will.

Limbo

With its haunting atmosphere and inventive platforming, Limbo is one of the most brilliant games on the Switch.

This entirely black and white adventure places you in the shoes of a boy who wakes up in a dark forest.

You have no weapons and are entirely defenseless. So every trap, monster, and obstacle you come across may spell your doom.

As a result, the Limbo demands a cautious and thoughtful approach to gameplay.

It’s a unique departure from most popular titles where combat and action are front and center.

Furthermore, the game’s noir, story-book ambiance is equally bleak and beautiful.

It perfectly complements the enigmatic and puzzle-packed environments.

As you delve deeper into the world’s mysteries, you’ll find a surprisingly touching and bittersweet story.

Limbo is a refreshing change of pace for gamers. It’s unlike anything else you’ll ever play.

Iron Crypticle

Iron Crypticle delivers arcade mayhem that’s sure to both delight and challenge players.

After the princess and treasures of Cryptonia get kidnapped, you set out to rescue them.

To do so, you battle through floor after floor of monster-packed arenas.

At the end of each floor is a formidable boss battle that’s bound to test your mettle.

Thankfully, there are tons of upgrades, spells, and weapons to help you take on Cryptonia’s enemies.

You can acquire them through Iron Crypticle’s adorable cat merchant.

However, what makes this excellent game even better is the co-op mode.

You and up to three friends can tackle dungeons as a team. Navigating the chaotic bullet-hell gameplay together is thrilling and entertaining.

If you enjoy games like Minecraft and Terraria, you’ll undoubtedly love Steamworld Dig.

You play as Rusty, a steambot who inherits his uncle’s mines.

These mines run under Tumbleton – a Wild West town that’s seen better days.

Starting with just a pickaxe, Rusty sets out to explore what secrets lie underground. His goal is to find treasures to help restore the dilapidated town above.

Along the way, you’ll encounter dangerous enemies, mysterious temples, and inventive puzzles.

The game offers a great mix of platforming and exploration to keep things fresh.

Every tunnel is procedurally-generated, meaning that the game’s replay value is immense.

Still not convinced? Then you should know Steamworld Dig also has numerous upgrades to discover.

You can, for example, spend the gems you dig up on boosts to your lantern, allowing you to dig for longer. Or beef up your pickaxe to break apart tougher bedrock.

But be warned: once you start playing, this subterranean platformer is hard to put down.
