How to Attract Pigs in Minecraft

First, you need to find the pig’s favorite food. Only one is enough, but we’ll show you all in case you’re not that lucky!

  1. Carrots

Carrots are mostly found in the village structure. Each farm plot has a 20% chance to contain carrots. With each harvest on a mature crop, you can obtain up to 3 carrots per block.

You can also find carrots spawning in chests in the pillager outposts and shipwrecks. They have a normal chance to contain up to 8 carrots.

Finally, killing zombies, husks, or zombie villagers has a 0.83% chance to drop a single carrot. And when you have at least one carrot, you can start farming them to get more!

  1. Potatoes

You can find potatoes the same way you find carrots in Minecraft. So looking for structures like villages, pillager outposts, and shipwrecks are recommended.

Moreover, zombies, zombie villagers, or husks can drop a potato with the same chance as dropping a carrot too. This is one arrow hitting two birds.

  1. Beetroots

Beetroots are a little bit rarer compared to carrots or potatoes. They have only a 10% chance to spawn in the village farmland.

But you can find beetroot seeds instead, which are spawned more frequently and used to grow the beetroot crop. To find beetroot seeds, look for chests spawn in dungeons, mineshafts, end cities, villages, and woodland mansions. Each chest can contain up to 10 beetroot seeds if you’re lucky!

  1. Carrots on a Stick

You can use carrots on a stick to lure the pigs when walking as well as riding them. To make one, you will need one carrot and a fishing rod, which can be made from 3 sticks and 2 strings.

You can use a damaged fishing rod for this recipe so no worries about crafting a new one!

Let’s attract the pigs!

When you have any of the items above, place them in your hot bar and press the corresponding number key. This will place the item in your hand.

With everything in place, the pigs around you will smelt the vegetable and start following you immediately. And remember that if you switch your hand to other items, the pigs will lose interest and walk randomly again.
