Raft is a laid-back game where you need to collect ocean trash and build structures to survive.

However, after playing for a long time, you’ll find that life isn’t exactly easy on your raft, as much work has to be done, even after unlocking many quality-of-life features.

Something that can help with that is playing with friends. So, how many players can you be in multiplayer?

The official maximum number of players you can be in Raft is 8 within the same server or world. However, there is technically no limit as to how many players you can be on a server, as it depends on the server’s capacity, which is based on the host’s hardware and internet speed.

How Many Players Can You Be in Multiplayer in Raft?

Raft offers more player slots in multiplayer than a lot of the current multiplayer survival games despite the fact that it’s a player-hosted game.

8 is the official maximum number of players you can be in multiplayer in Raft. There is technically no limit to how many players you can be in multiplayer, as it depends on the specific server’s capacity.

A server’s capacity in Raft is based on the host’s computer specs and internet speed, as they use a player-hosted server system.

A server with 2 to 4 players tends to perform the best in Raft, but you can also make it work if you are a large group of friends of up to 11. But, of course, there is such a thing as too many players.

Because servers in Raft are player-hosted servers, the more players that join a server, the lower the server’s performance is.

The player-hosted server system usually works great, but if you have a weak computer and a slow internet connection, it can become an issue for the performance of the server.

Most other heavy survival games tend to use dedicated servers instead of player-hosted ones because of the potential issue with servers performing badly when players host them.

When a game uses dedicated servers, the host doesn’t have to worry about their own computer specs and internet speed, as all the hosting happens on another server.

Sadly, the official version of Raft doesn’t support dedicated servers just yet.

That’s the maximum number of players you can play with in multiplayer in Raft!
