As you move to your grandfather’s farm in Stardew Valley, you will slowly purchase new buildings to improve the decrepit place. Though you already have a house, you will need to place many more things to make the farm work.

Unfortunately, at the start of the game, you have no idea where you should place most of the buildings. Usually, players will just leave buildings where they have some space, as most of the farm is usually full of grass, wood, and stones.

However, as time passes and the farm starts looking how you want it to look, you might want to move around the buildings.

So, can you actually move buildings in Stardew Valley after you’ve placed them? And how exactly do you do it? You can find the answers to these questions below.

Can You Move Buildings in Stardew Valley?

Yes, you can move most buildings in Stardew Valley by just clicking a button at Robin’s shop.

The only building on your farm that you cannot move is the Farmhouse itself. It will always have to stand right next to the Bus Stop exit.

Though you cannot move the Farmhouse, you can edit most of the details regarding how it looks inside. This includes what rooms you want to have and how you want them to look.

You cannot move rooms around the house.


How to Move Buildings in Stardew Valley

To move buildings in Stardew Valley, you will need to head over to the Carpenter’s Shop and talk to Robin at the counter.

You will have a few dialogue choices. Choose the “Construct Farm Buildings” option.

You will now see a menu where you can purchase and place buildings on your farm.

To start moving buildings that you have already placed on the farm in Stardew Valley, press the button with four arrows pointing outward.

You can see the exact button in the image above, shown with the orange arrow. Press that button, and you will now see your farm. If you hover over any building, it will be highlighted green.

Select the building you want to move to pick it up and just press again when you want to place it at a possible new location.

You can use this menu to move absolutely any building on your farm at no cost, even if you didn’t buy them from Robin.

So, even if you were to get a building from the Wizard, or if you just crafted and placed one yourself, you can move it from Robin’s shop by pressing that button in the “Construct Farm Buildings” menu.

You can even move items such as the Shipping Bin and the Greenhouse using this method.
