To milk cows in Stardew Valley, you will first need a Milk Pail. You can buy a Milk Pail from Marnie’s Ranch at any point in the game for 1k g.

After you’ve bought a cow from the ranch, you will have to feed them every day and wait for 5 days for them to grow up. Once the game says that they are “one month old,” you can start using the Milk Pail on them every day to get Milk from them. Each time you milk a cow, you will use 4 Energy.

Unlike eggs, Milk doesn’t have different colors based on the color of the cow. Once you reach a high enough friendship with a cow, you also have a chance of getting Large Milk from them.

You can also use the Milk on a Cheese Press to make Cheese, which can be sold for double the price of Milk.

Players can also sell their cows for a better price than the one they paid when they got it if they have enough hearts with the animal. A cow costs 1.5k g and can be sold for 1950 g if you have 5 hearts with them.
