In Stardew Valley, players will rely on more than just their crops and mining to make money. You will need to build all the possible structures to make sure you get some animals that aren’t even available from the start of the game.
However, to gain access to these animals and make a lot of money off of them, you will first need to upgrade your basic Barn and Coop to higher levels.

How to Upgrade a Barn in Stardew Valley
Here are the exact steps you need to follow to upgrade a Barn building in Stardew Valley:
- Talk to Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop at the counter. Otherwise, you won’t be able to purchase the upgrade from her.
- Select the Construct Farm Buildings option.
- Press the left arrow at the bottom that appears under the Coop building.
- You should now see the upgraded version of your Barn if you have one built on your farm. Otherwise, you will have to build a regular Barn first.
- Select to Build the Big/Deluxe Barn, look on the farm for your already-built Barn, and select it.
Robin will now go to your farm to upgrade the Barn, and you will just have to wait 3 days for her to finish the job.
If you don’t have the necessary resources to build the upgraded version of the Barn, the Build button will be grayed out.
