How to Get Multiple Colonies in RimWorld
Yes, you can have multiple colonies in RimWorld. However, the game will disable this feature at the start of the game, and you will have to change this.
To enable multiple player colonies in RimWorld, follow these simple steps:
- While in-game, open the menu.
- Go to the Gameplay options.
- Adjust the “Maximum number of colonies” slider setting.
The maximum number of colonies you can set in the settings is 5. The game will automatically set this number to 1 since RimWorld was made to be played with one colony only.
However, that doesn’t make a lot of sense, as the other factions have hundreds of settlements on the map. This way, you can access free resources on new maps and send the support of your main colony to help.
To actually set up a new colony, you will first have to form a caravan. Once you have, just send them to the place where you want to settle.
When your caravan has reached the desired colony destination, just select the caravan on the world map and choose the “Settle” option that has appeared on the lower side of the screen.
Doing this will establish a new colony at the chosen location, while also keeping your old colony intact.
Should You Have Multiple Colonies in RimWorld?
However, for many reasons, if you only want more colonies for resources, then you would be better off using the long-range mineral scanner.
The only real reason you would have to make a second or third colony in RimWorld is that you are a bit bored with your colony and don’t want to relocate.
If you want to simulate a real faction and colonial power in RimWorld, then settling in more locations can be really fun. But there are no real reasons you should do this.
That’s everything you need to know about having multiple colonies in RimWorld!
