Can You Change Your Character Appearance and Gender in Rust?

No, there is no way to change your character in Rust. Your appearance is randomly generated based on your Steam ID, and it will be stuck like that forever.

Garry Newman, the owner of Facepunch Studios, wrote an article in which he stated that Rust will never have character customization since it would be a waste of time.

He also said that character customization has been getting out of control in other games. In his opinion, players would be able to recognize each other better if they always looked the same.

However, there aren’t that many variations in character appearance besides gender, race, and hairstyle. So, player appearance isn’t that diverse.

Still, considering that all users looked the same when it came out, this is still an improvement, even if there is no player choice.

That’s everything you need to know about how to change your character’s appearance or gender in Rust!
