The only way you can befriend a character fast in Stardew Valley is by giving them gifts. The more gifts you give someone, the more friendship points you will get with them.

Relationships in Stardew Valley are defined by hearts, which visually show your total friendship points. You can have any number of hearts from 0 to 10 with most normal NPCs and can even get as high as 14 with your spouse.

Jas is one of the non-romanceable characters in Stardew Valley, and giving her the right gifts will make the friendship progress much faster. Since you can only give two gifts per week, you should be careful what you give.

The best items to give Jas in Stardew Valley are Coconuts and Daffodils. You can easily pick up these items during the Spring and in the Desert.

How Friendship Works and Why You Should Give Gifts

You must give gifts to NPCs in Stardew Valley if you want to become friends with them. Some people will love some things while others will hate them.

You will receive a varying number of friendship points depending on how they respond to the gift.

In Stardew Valley, 10 friendship hearts are the usual cap for each villager. The limit with Jas is 10 hearts, as you cannot romance her.

To acquire hearts with Jas, you must first gain friendship points with her. In Stardew Valley, each heart is worth 250 friendship points. These points will gradually deplete over time.

The best way to befriend someone is to give them gifts they love. This will increase your relationship with them by 80 friendship points.

If you don’t have those items, you can also give them liked items, which will increase the relationship by 45 friendship points.

As long as you don’t give them disliked or hated items, you will only improve your relationship with NPCs by giving gifts. Since you only lose 2 points a day with them, the liked gifts will usually be enough.

Best Gift to Give Jas

Unfortunately, Jas doesn’t love or like a lot of items, and most of them are relatively hard to acquire in Stardew Valley.

The Pink Cake and Plum Pudding will be a lot of effort to cook, as they both need a lot of ingredients.

The Fairy Rose might be a decent choice, but you’ll have to spend quite a bit of money on a crop that doesn’t really make you money (unless you make Honey from them) and that you can only get in the Fall unless you use the Greenhouse.

Since Jas isn’t an extremely important character and you wouldn’t really miss out on improving your relationship with her slower, giving her liked items instead of loved ones should be good enough.

This is why collecting a lot of Daffodils in the Spring can help you a lot, as you can just give Jas two of them every week and easily get that friendship to 10 hearts in Stardew Valley.

Once you repair the Bus and discover Calico Desert, you can just pick up some Coconuts on your way back from the Skull Cavern and gift them to Jas.

This might be a good strategy if you find yourself later in a playthrough wanting to befriend her.
