How to Fill Watering Can in Don’t Starve Together

A watering can in Don’t Starve Together can be simply crafted with 2 boards and 1 rope. This is equal to 8 logs and 3 cut grass, which can be quite expensive in the early game.

To craft a watering can, you will need to craft the science machine first and stand near it. Then you can use the search bar in the crafting menu to quickly find the watering can recipe, or just click any of the 3 following tabs to see it:

  • Tools
  • Food & Gardening
  • Summer Items

There are 3 ways to fill your watering can in DST. The first two methods will require you to find specific structures like ponds, hot springs, oasis lakes, and Vitreoasis. Let’s see how!

  • Ponds are the most accessible water source to fill your watering can. They frequently spawn in grasslands, forests, marshes, and ruins biomes.
  • Hot springs are found only on Lunar Island, a faraway and dangerous island that is hard to read for beginners.
  • Vitreoasis are common water structures found deep underground in the Lunar Grotto biome.
  • Oasis lakes can be found in the desert biome and are only usable in the Summer.

Now, let’s put a watering can in your hand slot and hover your mouse on any of the water sources above. Then right-click your mouse to fill your watering can.

If you’re holding any items on your hand slot and can’t get rid of them, you can left-click the watering can in your inventory to choose it and left-click again on any water sources to fill your watering can.

Each method above will completely refill your watering can to 40 uses. However, if you can’t find any water sources mentioned above, you can use ice or water balloons to refill your watering can.

This only increases the use of a watering can by 1. So make sure to gather lots of ice in the Winter if you want to use this method!
