The best mounts in the game are often included in one of two categories: cute or cool.
It’s easy to see that the FFXIV fanbase adores kawaii mounts, but there’s always room for those fit for a king.
Rarity also plays a small role, but not a large one. For example, Garlond GL-IIT is extremely rare, but it is overshadowed by the Fenrir motorcycle.
The same goes for Chocobo mounts. They’re great, but there are so many more options with a more unique spin.
Rarest Mounts in Final Fantasy XIV
The best mounts in FFXIV below are mounts that either few players have, or that aren’t available anymore yet are highly revered.
Cerberus

Cerberus is a three-headed dog that players may recognize from The World of Darkness. Does adds-belly-chains ring a bell?
The mount is only available to players who clear Delubrum Reginae (Savage). The difficult level 80 raid ensures that only 4% of players have the mount.
Regalia Type-G Car
- 43% of players
The Regalia car was initially only available at the Gold Saucer for 200,000 MGP. But in 2021, it was easy to snag at the Nocturne of Heroes event.
The four-seater car is one that fans of FF15 will recognize. While the land version of the car is cool, the transformation it makes when it flies really sells it.
Astrope
- Less than 1% of players
Astrope is a mount that can hold two players. Only those who achieve Mentor status may unlock it and only after playing 2000 duties as mentor.
The alicorn is more than just rare’ it’s beautiful and scales with player size.
Pinky
- 1% of players
Pinky is one of the rarest mounts in the game despite there being two ways to get it. The colorful pink elephant from Endwalker is one of the most coveted in the game.
The first way to get Pinky is to randomly receive the drop from the Excitatron 6000 treasure map. The other is to trade in three Exciting Tonics (another drop).
Jibanyan Couch
- 11% of players
Jibanyan Couch is one of the mounts from the Yo-Kai Watch collaboration. It is a cute one-seater chair that looks like a Jibanyan.
The mount is no longer available, as you need to obtain 17 Yo-kai weapons to unlock it.
Chocorpokkur
- 10% of players
Chocorpokkur was a mount players could earn by buying Butterfingers during an FFXIV campaign.
The promotion is no longer available, but it is possible to buy the chocolate truffle mount online from private users.
Demi-Ozma

The Demi-Ozma mount is a strange clear, yet reflective geometric shape. It can change from spherical to cubic to triangular.

This stone manticore-like creature is not difficult to get. However, it takes patience and dedication to collect the necessary 3,200 Sacks of Nuts.
Sacks of Nuts are the currency you earn from clan mark bills in Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Even if optimizing availability, it takes weeks to earn that many nuts.
Ramuh
- 12% of players
The Ramuh mount is a flying centaur version of the lightning god. To receive the mount, you have to complete the Eden’s Verse: Refulgence (Savage) raid.
The mount is a random drop, so you have to roll for it if it does drop. So you may do it a dozen times and still not get the mount.
Pteranaodon
- Less than 1% of players
The Pteranodon is one of the rarest mounts in FFXIV. To get it, you must be a hardcore crafter and gatherer.
Only players who earn 500,000 points with every hand and land disciple are awarded the mount.
Goten
- 15% of players
Though it shares the name of the young Saiyan, Goten in FFXIV is much flashier. It is a golden pegasus.
To earn it, you must win 30 Feast or Crystalline Conflict matches while using a disreputable priest title. The titles come from the GARO collab.

Fenrir

Fenrir is a mount anyone can earn either with luck or dedication. If you win the Cactpot Lottery, you can get it this week. Otherwise, it takes consistent work.
To buy the icey beast, you must buy it from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 1,000,000 MGP.
Kamuy of the Nine-Tails
- 25% of players
Kamuy of the Nine-Tails is a kyuubi mount that you get by farming Stormblood trials. If done right, it can be earned in a day.
Considering the max level is 90, soon to be 100, it’s easy to unsynch the Stormblood extremes until you earn every kamuy mount.
From there, talk to the News Hawker to get the final mount, a nine-tailed version of the fox-like creature.
Nightmare

Nightmare is earned the same way that Kamuy of the Nine-tails is only in A Realm Reborn. So it’s easy to earn it solo to avoid rolling and missing it.
The dark horse with a golden horn is one of the most appreciated mounts in the game despite half the players having it.
Magitek Bed
- 16% of players
Magitek Bed is a unique mount that is easy to get. In fact, you can buy it right now on the marketboard.
That’s because it’s a craftable that crafters keep on the marketboard because it’s possible to earn a good chunk of gil doing so.
Unicorn

The Unicorn is easy to earn as well. All you need to do is reach level 30 with Conjurer (not White Mage) and talk to Braya.
Ensure that you’ve caught up with the Conjurer quests if you do not see Unicorn Power at the Conjurer’s Guild.
Lunar Whale

Lunar Whale is the eight-seater mount, allowing even a large party to travel the realms together. This is perfect for treasure maps and hunts.
To get it, you’ll have to cough up over $40 on the Mog Station, but it’s generally worth it due to the extra seating.

The Magicked Parasol is an account-wide Mary Poppins-esque mount. It’s available on the MogStation.
Megashiba

Fatter Cat
- 19% of players
Finally, the Fatter Cat is one of the most adored mounts in FFXIV. It is a MogStation exclusive that looks like a large version of the Fat Cat minion.
