To use the first aid kit in Project Zomboid, you can place it on the ground and open its inventory to transfer items. Alternatively, you can equip it as an additional handheld in your primary or secondary and loot the items inside by clicking its icon in the rightmost column.

How to Use First Aid Kit in Project Zomboid
Despite the name and the items it contains, the first aid kit is not limited to medical supplies alone. In fact, you can treat it like other containers, as it can hold a wide variety of items.
So, don’t be fooled by its initial appearance. It’s capable of carrying much more than just medical items.
There are 2 ways to use a first aid kit in Project Zomboid:
1. Drop on the Ground
First, drag the first aid kit from your inventory or other containers to the nearby ground.
Next, press “I” to open your inventory. This action also reveals the nearby inventories in the right panel, including the floor’s inventory.
Besides the floor and nearby inventories, you should also see the first aid kit icon in the rightmost column. Simply click on it to open its inventory.
Now, you can drag items from the first aid kit to your inventory to loot them like usual containers.
2. Equip It
Besides dropping the first aid kit on the ground, you can right-click on it (in your inventory) and select “Equip Primary” or “Equip Secondary”. Then click the first aid kit icon on the rightmost column display to open its inventory.
Now you can take items out or place items inside.
You can use the first aid kit to store any item as long as it fits the capacity. Like the gun case, the first aid kit is a handheld container, so you can simultaneously wear it with the backpack.
The first aid kit has a weight of 1, its maximum capacity is 4, and it can reduce 5% of total weight. That said, its encumbrance reduction and capacity aren’t impressive, but it’s still a useful container.
