How Charm Works in Bannerlord

Charm is the skill in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord that will decide how fast you will increase relations with other nobles, notables, and lords of the land.

Besides the perks, which will help you a lot, Charm will directly influence how much relations you get for an action.

For example, at level 1 Charm you will gain a 0.5% bonus for any relationship gain, and at level 100 Charm you will get 50%.

This means that giving some a gift would gain you two times the amount of relationship increase at level 200 Charm.

To know if you have ever gained Charm XP, all you need to do is pay attention if you gained relations with someone. Every time the popup that tells you your “relations increased” appears, you have just gained Charm XP.

How to Increase Charm in Bannerlord (Fast)

There are many actions you can take in Bannerlord to increase Charm. This is the list of all the things you could do to gain Charm experience:

  • Destroy Bandit Camp
  • Destroy Gangs in Towns
  • Release Lords After Battle
  • Give Gifts to Lords
  • Improve Relations with Clan
  • Voting on Faction Matters

All of these methods are good ways of increasing the Charm skill in Bannerlord. Let’s see them one by one.

Destroying Bandit Camps is a great way of increasing relations with closeby notables and an easy way to get some Charm XP.

Eliminating a gang from a part of the town will get you a huge Charm XP boost. However, completely getting a gang out of a district will take a few days, which makes this method a bit more troublesome than it should be.

Instead of thinking about monetary gains, you can release every lord that you capture. This is probably the easiest way to get Charm XP. The “Release” method will give a steady increase of Charm, as you can do this for your whole playthrough.

Another way to get Charm that isn’t as efficient is giving lords gifts. You can do this by bartering with them and just giving them money or goods. You will get a slight relations boost and some XP.

You can also improve relations with Clans through the Kingdom menu. You will have to spend a bit of Influence and, in exchange, you will get some nice Charm XP. However, there are better ways to use your Influence.

Voting on fiefs is the best and fastest way to increase the Charm skill in Bannerlord. You will, however, have to become a vassal before attempting this.

The Best and Fastest Way to Increase Charm

By voting in favor of the ruler of the faction, you will gain an increased amount of Charm XP (~30% more). This is why, if you want to quickly increase Charm, you should always vote for the king to get every fief.

By doing this you can get a lot of Charm XP, especially if you use a lot of Influence. The more Influence you use, the more the Charm skill increases.

If you plan to also destroy the kingdom you are part of, you can use this opportunity to either make lords waste a lot of Influence, or just get the Immortal Charm perk at level 275 to gain a minimum of +5 daily Influence.

Using the tactic we described to destroy a kingdom, you can actually start votes to banish a clan and then vote favorably to keep them in the clan. This can get you a decent amount of Charm XP  if you have a lot of Influence and nothing better to do.

That’s everything you need to know about how to increase the Charm skill in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord!
